When it arrived, I was pleased that everything seemed to be there—one user mentioned everything arrived well, which was encouraging. Installation wasn't too bad, and initially, I thought this product was going to be fantastic. It certainly looks sharp mounted up.
However, after taking it out for a proper spin, I ran into some significant calibration issues. It just doesn't seem to be reading the shifts precisely. I've tried adjusting it multiple times, but I can’t seem to get the readings accurate enough, which defeats the whole purpose of having an indicator.
It’s disappointing because some other buyers have reported very good experiences with their units.
It seems like the precision is the main sticking point here. While some folks are getting excellent results, I'm finding that for the specific gear shifts on my bike, the display is inconsistent. Unfortunately, I've seen other comments echo my frustration, noting that on certain models, like the XJR1300, it simply doesn't work for them either.
So, while the promise of having a clear, visible gear readout is great, the execution seems highly dependent on the specific bike model it's being fitted to.
If you are looking for a quick and easy upgrade to know exactly what gear you're in, this *could* be a winner, especially if you’re on a compatible V-Star or XJ6 model where others have had success. But, if you own a model like mine or the XJR1300, you might want to proceed with caution because the accuracy of this Gear Indicator Gear Display seems to be hit or miss.
